Meet Your Teacher

Andrew Booth is a multi-genre guitarist, composer, producer and performer. He has a Bachelor of Music (with Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan as well as Level 9 classical guitar from the Royal Conservatory of Music (first-class honours).

As a guitarist and an artist, Andrew’s primary focus is composition and performance of original music in the metal and classical genres. Andrew is the guitarist, bassist and primary writer/producer for the progressive metal band Retrofuturist. The group’s last ep ‘Dead Orbit’ was recorded with Grammy-nominated producer Taylor Larson in Bethesda, MD and has over 41k streams on Spotify. Since the release of Dead Orbit, Retroufuturist has released a number of singles. A Portrait of Home, released in September, 2021 was mixed and mastered by Spencer Sotelo, vocalist of the prolific metal band Periphery. Following the release of A Portrait of Home, Retrofuturist has been working with Acle Kahney, guitarist and mix/master engineer of TesseracT for the mastering of their music while Andrew has taken over the mixing duties for the band. Retrofuturist’s forthcoming EP was 100% self-produced, engineered and mixed by Andrew and can be expected for release this coming fall (2023).

As a session musician, Andrew has performed as the lead guitarist for local country singer/songwriter Shantaia at a variety of high-profile venues including Country Thunder and Dauphin Country Fest music festivals and label showcases for representatives from Sony Music and Warner Music.

Andrew has been teaching guitar professionally since the completion of his degree in 2016. Over the last six years he has taught all ages from 5 to retired in a wide variety of styles ranging from rock and metal to pop, country, blues, jazz and classical, developing many effective teaching methods along the way.
